A question was asked by several people, what is the energy required to make photovoltaic panels versus the amount they produce. Short answer: typical energy payback in 3 to 5 years, and newer cell types payback in under a year, with lifespans of 20 to 30 years easily. See NREL Paper

Useful and late-breaking Information for the Course
Quiz#2 will cover psychrometrics, and vapour movement by diffusion and heat and vapour movement by convection.  No aids of any kind are allowed. Basic equations will be provided (all of the equations in Table 4.2) not Fick’s Law (know this), as will all material properties.

Final Exam April 11 9:00 to 11:30. A cheat sheet of formulae will be provided with the exam, one 8.5 x 11 handwritten sheet both sides permitted as an aid.
