Geotechnical Engineering includes areas of study such as soil mechanics, foundation engineering, earth and rockfill dams. Current research activities include theoretical research into the mechanical behaviour of earth materials, application of geomechanics in petroleum, mining and pavement engineering, numerical simulations, and micromechanics of soils.
