Postdoctoral Postition in Hydrologic Modelling

We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow (PDF) to join the hydrology research group within the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at the University of Waterloo. This is a full-time 18 month research position focused on the development, testing, and deployment of hydrological models for a number of interrelated research projects focusing on the prediction of the hydrological impacts of wildfire, improved integration of vegetation and hydrology models, and the use of alternative data sources for calibration and informing model development.

The PDF will be responsible for developing and implementing experiments for model assessment, processing large amounts of hydroclimatic data, interpreting the results of complex simulation experiments, and working collaboratively with the rest of the 14-member hydrology group on related research projects. They will be expected to communicate research via conference presentations and publication of their work in the peer-reviewed literature; travel funds will be available.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in engineering or the sciences with specialization in hydrologic modelling and a track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals. They should have experience in development and application of hydrologic models, possess a solid understanding of landscape hydrology, and be comfortable with scientific programming. We are looking for a team player with strong communication skills. We encourage applications from qualified individuals of any race, culture, or gender identity.

Applicants should send a C.V., a brief cover letter outlining their fit with the position, and the contact information of three references to jrcraig@uwaterloo.ca.
