It will use case studies to show that the use of trenchless construction methods can result in 90 to 100 percent less greenhouse gas emissions than open trench construction methods. CATT Upcoming Event: Underground Utility Location workshop What: This one day workshop covers a detailed review of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and an overview of current technologies and practices. It will also incorporate field demos of different locating technologies and equipments. Case studies will be presented throughout the workshop. V. Anderson Limited), has completed the review of the current OPSS 463 and has produced a draft of amendments designed to update this document to suit current industry needs. The draft is ready for your review and input. Click here to download a copy of the document and the proposed amendments. Please contact John Spencer if you have any comments. This document will be posted and available for review for a period of 30 days. After that time, the completed draft will be sent to OPSS Standards Branch for their consideration. CATT Technical Committee to review OPSS 409 The Technical Committee, chaired by John Spencer (R. V. Anderson Limited), will undertake the review of the CCTV Spec as soon as a committee is put together. Volunteers interested in working on OPSS 409 - Construction Specification for Closed Circuit Television Inspection of Pipelines are requested to contact John Spencer or Alice Seviora.
NAAPI Closure On September 2, 2008, the North American Association of Pipeline Inspectors (NAAPI) announced that it was ceasing operations and would no longer provide CCTV inspector training and certification. On December 2, CATT and some interested parties held an open information session to discuss consequences and options available to Canadian municipalities. A sub-committee has been formed and named SPIMA (Sewer Pipe Industry Management Association). It held its second information session on Friday January 30. Management 101/Sustainable Design, TBA. HDD Subcommittee Update The HDD subcommittee has finished revision of OPSS 450 and has started compiling detailed suggested edits and revisions. The draft of the revised document should be ready for review by the end of the year. The next committee meeting will be on June 10, 2009. To ensure continued excellent in our trenchless technology education program, CATT has joined with EIC. This means our workshops are now awarded EIC approved CEUs. Sewer Technologies Inc., located in Port Perry, Ontario, will be taking delivery of the first DigiSewer Camera system in January 2008. This will be the first DigiSewer camera system in North America. Once the DigiSewer camera system becomes operational, CATT will organize a meeting at Joe Johnson Equipment in Barrie to see the new DigiSewer system, to meet Sewer Technologies Inc., and to discuss the revitalization of the SSET Benchmarking program.
